Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It’s fun to be a vampire.
We are huge fans of Joel Schumacher’s1987 cult film The Lost Boys a vampire horror comedy. You probably remember this is a classic coming of age story of Arizona brothers new to a California coastal town who are enchanted by a flashy bike gang who happen to be vampires. what is this going to look like as a regular series on CW?
Well, now that the Vampire Diaries is raping up its eight and final session, its successor will tell its vampire story spanning 70 years in seven seasons. Season 1 is set in San Francisco 1967 Summer of Love and each following season has a new setting and a new bad guy that must be be defeated. The only thing that remans constant is the lost boys who never grow up. What does immortality look like? The man behind Veronica Mars and iZombie on CW, Rob Thomas says that he will attempt to resurrect Peter Pan themes that the original writers had in mind.
“Season 1 of The Lost Boys is a story about two brothers and how tempted they are to fall in with these vampires and how tempted they are to want to be 22 forever. I am leaning into the Peter Pan notion of, if you join these vampires, you never have to grow up. How appealing is that? I read a bit about what the original writer’s intentions were, and how a lot of that Peter Pan imagery got pulled away from what they ended up doing. I’m pushing it back in there.” – Rob Thomas
